Judges Comments
Currently one of the largest seismic testing facilities in Australasia, the Test Hall is designed to inform the New Zealand building industry as well as selected research projects throughout the world.
A specification that required concrete surfaces to have no more than 2mm of vertical and horizontal level tolerances, this project stimulated the client, contractor and subcontractors to work up solutions together, taking collaboration to another level.
A building that does not shout out, ‘look at me’, but has a prominence and air of strength and resonance within the environment in which it resides; and is a testament to the superb construction team behind its creation.
