Judges Comments
Set in the most breathtaking scenery, on a site near the head of Lake Wakatipu is an audacious mix of luxury spa, ascetic retreat and self-sustaining community.
This unique vision was pursued with a near-fanatical rigour from the beginning of the design process through to completion of construction. Despite the need to provide buildings, roading, and all the other infrastructure necessary to supply water, generate electricity, grow food and dispose of waste, this project seems to barely touch the land.
