The newly fitted out ANZ Raranga boasts a modern but flexible environment to suit all areas of the business. New features of the fit-out include a state-of-the-art call and data center as well as a staff training facility. The internal marble staircase and grandstand are stand-out features used to connect levels 7 and 8. To achieve this, 120 m2 of concrete slab was cut out and removed from the site and a new concrete beam was poured and introduced to support the grandstand.
This stylish new fit-out was not without its challenges. The team at Black Interiors had to work around Sylvia Park, a bustling environment which limited site access as well as material deliveries.

Black Interiors did a stellar job of the new fit-out in the Minter Ellison Rudd Watts offices in Auckland, the sleek new office includes a beautiful four-story staircase, specialist feature lighting, various types of feature ceilings, and an impressive conference room that can be divided into three smaller board rooms. This brilliant new work environment features lots of American Oak Wocca oil-stained joinery, including tea points, credenza units, and wall paneling.
Inserting the new staircase was no easy task, getting the prefabricated 6m long stair flights into the building, then lowering it down and installing it into the position was a challenge for the team at Black Interiors. This challenge was overcome using a spider crane and a four-story slab opening.

This complex fit-out put Unispace’s new “UniLean” construction principles into action and achieved a 736sqm workplace, including a raised deck area and complex joinery completed in just six weeks, during COVID-19 Alert Level 3. Considering the complexity of the design and nature of the fit-out, Unispace believes this project is an industry first in New Zealand.
A major challenge was the timeframe, this project would usually be delivered in 14-weeks. Instead, Unispace allocated 3-weeks for pre-planning and coordination, 2-weeks for lead-in prep, and 6-weeks for on-site construction.
This project was done as a pilot project for testing the Unispace “UniLean” methodology, the team challenged themselves to find more efficient ways to deliver a project with increased lead-in period and off-site manufacturing.

Air New Zealand
This fit-out involved the refurbishment of Air New Zealand’s ground staff and engineering quarters airside at Auckland Airport International Terminal. The area is now an attractive environment that provides a host of new features such as meeting and training rooms, collaborative working spaces, and break areas.
A major challenge faced during this fit-out was the construction phase, which was highly complex due to the need to keep Aircraft Office Control operational throughout the renovation.
This project is special as it represents a new way of working for over 800 staff members who historically worked in a rigid working environment, thus, engagement with staff was key to create a successful outcome.

DC Design Construction has done an exceptional job of turning an unpleasant workspace into one of warmth and light. The building has many standout features. It has stayed true to the Art Deco heritage, while also including the latest internal technology in lighting, heating and cooling, security, sound system, and many other features.
The floor of the building and the roof structure was revitalised using original materials, while the major feature of the building is the degree and level of finishing in all areas. The fit-out was not without some challenges, the main one being that the renovation was being carried out on a heritage building. DC Design Construction has done a stellar job of bringing this building back to life!

RocketWerkz secured the top two levels of the Commercial Bay Tower and wanted to create a flagship workplace, representative of its status as a globally competitive gaming development company.
The team was briefed to create ‘an entry experience that’s out of this world’ – a portal that evokes the feeling of being ‘in space’ and entering a space station, to create an alternative, high-impact, immersive experience. The complex ‘entry portal’ transitions from a high-gloss black-out, geometric portal, to a clinical white ‘decompression’, to an immersive AV projection room.
A standout of the project was the management to deliver this project within the agreed timeframe while dealing with one service lift for five independently managed projects happening at the same time. A portion of the delivery programme was also performed under the COVID-19 Alert Level limitations.

Objective Corporation Limited
The design of the office fit-out was specific to the requirements of Objective Corporation Solutions, a systems software developer. The new fit-out needed to cater to open sharing areas and intimate workspaces. Noise control, aesthetics, and the use of colour was used to create a visually engaging atmosphere.
Construction needed careful planning and programming for a consistent execution throughout. The sensitive nature and secure workspace of the existing tenants needed consideration. Mitigating construction noise required strict and mindful consultation with existing tenants.
Another challenge the team faced was the COVID-19 lockdown and restrictions regarding safe distancing and access to the site being shared with existing tenants. Protocols were developed around timing, sharing lifts, signing in, and facility sharing while construction continued.
